Some Zombie Comic Action

One new one and a couple of oldies, but always goodies. First the new...

Black Gas

Image hosting by Photobucket

Synopsis:
"A tiny little island off the East Coast of America, that sits on its own tiny little fault in the underlying tectonic plate. An odd little history ignored by almost everyone. Until the night of the big storm, and the creak in the fault line, and the release of something foul from the earth's guts, blown across the little town on Smoky Island. And the only two people on the island who were outside its reach are now trapped on a black spit of rock with a population who aren't people anymore.

They started eating each other an hour ago."

And now a couple of oldies...

Night of the Living Dead: Barbara's Zombie Chronicles

Image hosting by Photobucket

Put out by Dead Dog Publishing. From Issue #1:
Assailed by nightmares both real and imagined, Barbara, once demure survivor of a night of living hell, finds the dawn no safer as she struggles to survive in a world gone mad. The cannibalistic dead walk the earth, forcing her and a small number of survivors to hide in a concrete prison of their own making and forage for dwindling supplies. Hardened by this satanic apocalypse, Barbara has become a soldier, fighting for her life and the lives of those who depend on her.

Reborn as a warrior, she has assured herself that things can't get any worse. She's wrong...

Romero's Toe Tags

Image hosting by Photobucket
Romero:
"The other thing I've got going on is that I've got a comic book coming out that I wrote. DC Comics called me up. They are doing a series called Toe Tags, limited-edition, six-issue storylines, eventually put out in bound editions. The illustrations are great, a guy named Tommy Castillo did the artwork. The plot once again revolves around a dead world. I'm not sure how much I can talk about it. I know there's some stuff they want to keep under wraps. I believe they're going to have advance copies out later this month. I think the first issues comes out in October. It was really fun, man. It was really liberating because it's a longer form than a conventional script. You don't have to worry about, shit, how am I going to shoot this? You just have to be able to draw it.”
Some old info from Ain't It Cool News is here. These were released in October of 2004.

By the way, some of you who are zombie obsessed and know all about the old news might wonder why I post the old news. It's because this is a new site and I do want to try to cover everything, which means there's a whole lot of catching up. And there's a lot of people who may have missed whatever it is that I'm posting, so I'm affording them the opportunity to check it out if they'd like.

Thanks to Nate for digging up most of this info!

Just wanted to add to your comic list, "The Walking Dead". Probably the best zombie comic/story I have every read! This is the comic Romero might have done late seventies right after DOTD.

You are among a few to rally for "The Walking Dead", Anon. :) I'm working on it! Actually, I'm debating on whether to combine the comics with the Lit section, or give it its own space. Eventually, though, ZAGG'll have a relatively thorough zombie comics inventory.

Thanks for your comments!
