Zombie Pickin's

I didn't notice too much in the line of exciting zombie news, so I thought I'd post a little something about some not often talked about zombie flicks. You may have heard of them, you might not have.

Zombietown

In the film, Local mechanic Jake La Fond's life is suddenly disrupted when mysterious parasites transform the law-abiding citizens of his quaint hometown of Otis, Vermont into hoards of cannibalistic zombies.

Isolated from the outside world by an accident on the only road out of town, Jake turns to Alex, a bio-scientist who is unfortunately also his ex-girlfriend, for help. Together they try to solve the mystery behind this rapidly spreading infection. As the town grows deadlier by the moment, Jake's gun-toting rival, Randy becomes the only one they can trust and the three of them uncover a deadly secret that may be the key to saving the town – if they can survive long enough.

Click here and here for more info. The site says that it's wrapped principal photography, but it's unclear exactly how long ago that was. No news on when it's due out.

Confederate Zombie Massacre

From Bloody-Disgusting:
Now this is what I call an achievement in low budget filmmaking. A definite crowd pleaser that I can’t wait to get a hold of on DVD to show all my friends. Director Devi Snively has created nothing short of a masterpiece of comedy horror. Please, please, someone give this man a gob of money to make a feature! Here we have the (allegedly) very true story of a civil war battle that happened where a group of guys use a chemical weapon on the enemy and inadvertently turn them all into zombies. It’s a gore fest filled with cheesy silly humor that kept the audience laughing from the opening credits through to the end! The reason this movie is so successful is that it knows not to take itself seriously, and just moves you along this fun ride. My favorite scene is when our hero gets his head bashed, a zombie eats his brains, he gets up all pissed off and says “No one eats my brains and gets away with it!” It takes me back to the good old days of Peter Jackson making Bad Taste and Dead Alive. The Standout show of the Shriekfest! Buy this film… you wont regret it.

This premiered at the Dragon*Con in Georgia this past September. The official site claims that a "DVD with the film and a behind-the-scenes documentary will be available for purchase shortly." When exactly that will be, I do not know.

Poultrygeist! Attack of the Chicken Zombies
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

When the American Chicken Bunker, a military-themed fried-chicken chain, builds a restaurant on the site of an ancient Indian burial ground, local protestors aren’t the only ones crying fowl! The previous tenants, fueled by a supernatural force, take “possession” of the food and those who eat it, and the survivors discover that they must band together before they themselves become the other white meat!

Film lovers have been starved for sustenance. The relentless diet of predictability and pretense Hollywood has been serving up just doesn’t cut it. Poultrygeist is hearty food for thought. In Poultrygeist, Troma takes on the the fast-food industry-skewering the soulless restaurateurs-in the world’s first horror-comedy film to feature zombie chickens, American Indians and a bit of singing and dancing!

It’s Poultrygeist!
