From Sheffield Today:
Zombies on the march in protest at cemetery chapel scheme
IT looks like a scene from a horror movie...Dozens of campaigners dressed as zombies marched through Sheffield city centre to protest against plans to turn Sheffield General Cemetery's Grade II-listed Anglican chapel into a private home.
The campaigners, carrying a coffin and a mock gravestone, walked from the chapel in Sharrow to the Town Hall where they presented a petition to Sheffield Council containing 3,000 signatures.
It was the culmination of weeks of campaigning against the proposals, which included a benefit music event held in the cemetery.
Police said around 40 protesters turned up and the demonstration was peaceful.
The Sheffield General Cemetery Trust is angry that if the plans are approved the site will no longer be for public use.
Campaigners have worked towards buying the chapel and submitting a plan of their own. They want both chapels at the cemetery to be turned into a music school.
