Excerpt:

She rose from the burning pile of corpses, the ashes on her body dusted off as she finally stood straight up, almost iconic to a phoenix rising from the ashes.

They had been feasting upon her body when a military vehicle drove by and opened fired, then proceeded to douse the group in gasoline and setting them ablaze. The soldiers in their vehicle drove away hooting and hollering. The fire burnt the creatures into black masses of human charcoal; somehow she was protected aside from a few burnt spots she was alive.
